A new star

A new star to light the way

I woke up one day and I have to say

that the sun was shining fine.

There were no clouds high up there in the sky.

So I thought that this day is mine.

Then I met a friend with whom time I’d spend

and begob he began to cry

Then he grinned at me very pleasantly

And he said I’ve become Baha’i

Chorus

Come and take my hand

It is surely grand

Come join now what do you say?

There’s a lot to do for myself and you

And a new star to light the way

I could not disguise my quite big surprise

and I said now let’s wait a while

For if this fine man had a secret plan

I knew well ‘twould be full of guile

So where’s the catch, where’s the silver thatch?

And don’t tell me no lie.

Then he grinned at me very pleasantly

And he said I’ve become Baha’i

Chorus

There’s 19 Day Feast, said the silly beast and there’s names I can barely say

But the matter’s this you’ll not want to miss

This dawn of a brand new day

So stand up old chum and get off your bum

And I did so with quite a sigh

Then I said quite meek, don’t you know last week

That I too became Baha’i

Chorus

Mining

There is a diamond in that rock,

hid deeply, at its core.

Don’t let the surface put you off.

Be patient. Try once more.

Be gentle. Scratch a tiny bit -

a little at a time.

And if you do not find it friend,

don’t worry and don’t whine.

And never doubt that it is there

although its hard to find.

He told us how to look for it.

So try, if you don’t mind.

And try again and fail again.

And try again. You’ll see

it’s really worth the effort friend.

That rock just might be me.
